Brian Irving Joins Airbnb as Global Marketing Director
Brian Irving joins Airbnb's marketing team as global marketing director, reporting to the company's chief marketing officer (CMO), Jonathan Mildenhall. In his new role, Irving will lead the team to drive Airbnb's business efforts globally across different functionalities including advertising, marketing communications, strategic partnerships, and social media.
With more than 15 years of experience building brands and marketing communications, Irving comes to Airbnb from Google, where he served as the senior marketing director responsible for running global marketing for Google Play. Prior to Google, Irving was Co-CMO and vice president of global digital marketing for the Levi's brand at Levi Strauss & Co. Before that he worked for Apple, where he led the execution and planning of globally integrated marketing communications programs for iPhone, in addition to leading Apple's global CRM program.
Irving also has an agency background. Earlier in his career, he held several roles at agencies like Digitas and Rapp.
Nipoon Malhotra Migrates from Twitter to Pinterest as a Product Manager
Nipoon Malhotra is Pinterest's latest product manager of monetization. He will focus on Pinterest's ad technology. This includes but is not limited to billing, targeting, and new formats such as Buyable Pins, Cinematic Pins, App Pins, and so on. Malhotra will report to Jonathan Shottan, head of product and monetization, and will be based in Pinterest's San Francisco Headquarters.
Before joining Pinterest, Malhotra served as head of Twitter's brand advertising product team, where he (Read more...) to grow the company's brand advertising business and built a comprehensive product suite including key products that span targeting, formats, insights, and syndication. Prior to Twitter, Malhotra ran the Whole Page Ranking product team at Bing.
Malhotra has an engineering background and was one of the earliest engineers on Amazon's S3 service. He holds a bachelor's degree from IIT Delhi in India, and a master's degree from Purdue University.
Twitter Elevates Rishi Jaitly to Vice President of Media for Asia Pacific and Middle East
Twitter promotes Rishi Jaitly to vice president of media for Asia Pacific and Middle East. In this new role, Jaitly will spearhead the business strategy and build up media partnership functions across these regions. He will lead his team to work with key publishers to prioritize Twitter as their first and immediate platform to reach. He will also delight and engage with the mobile audience across the company's live and public platform as well as on Twitter, Vine, and Periscope apps.
Based in Singapore, Jaitly will grow his team in major digital markets including Australia, India, and Japan, while simultaneously expanding his team into new markets in Greater China and Southeast Asia.
Prior to this promotion, Jaitly was Twitter's market director for India and Southeast Asia. Earlier in his career, he was head of public-private partnerships for Google in India, and an aide to then-Google CEO Eric Schmidt in California. He is also the chairman of Michigan Corps, which is a social enterprise based in Detroit. Jaitly is also the founder of the microfinance platform Kiva Detroit, and is a former director of the Knight Foundation at College Summit.
Three Executive Hires at Viacom
Viacom has hired three executives to boost the company's analytic and marketing solutions: Bryson Gordon, Gabe Bevilacqua, and Kodi Foster.
Bryson Gordon is the new senior vice president of data strategy and Viacom Vantage - a data-driven ad product. Before Viacom, Gordon spent more than a decade at Microsoft, leading consumer marketing, product management and business incubation teams across Windows, Xbox, Office, Microsoft Store, and most recently, Surface. Earlier in his career, Gordon led consumer product management at McAfee Security, helping develop and market the company's direct-to-customer subscription services.
Gabe Bevilacqua joins Viacom as vice president of product management for Viacom Vantage. With more than a decade of experience in data-driven marketing technology, Bevilacqua co-founded and was chief operating officer (COO) at the content marketing platform Rallyverse. Bevilacqua also spent six years at Microsoft, where he served as director of the advertiser tools business group for the Atlas Advertiser Suite - now owned by Facebook.
Kodi Foster is Viacom's newest vice president of data strategy. Foster's previous experience includes being head of brand initiatives at the content discovery platform Outbrain, where he led strategic account solutions and partnerships with Fortune 100 brands. Before Outbrain, Foster was vice president of business development at Sahara Media Holdings, a publicly traded investment company specializing in digital media.
Bevilacqua and Foster will report to Gordon.
